In Bulacan, SSS starts a fight against unremitted premiums.
The Social Security System (SSS) reminded employers to uphold their duties under the Social Security Law on Friday by launching its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign in the province of Bulacan.
Gloria Corazon Andrada, vice president of the SSS for the Luzon Central 2 Division, and other SSS representatives went to nine businesses in Malolos City, Bulacan that had not paid the premium contributions made by their employees.
Andrada stated that Malolos City is one of the 108 areas countrywide where the SSS is concurrently running the RACE operations to assist employers in adhering to their responsibilities under the terms of Republic Act 11199, also known as the Social Security Act of 2018, which is currently in effect.
“RACE operations are taking place in Malolos City. Ginagawa naman para matulungan niya ang mga employers na mag-comply sa kanilang mga obligasyon, as long as it’s not in default on the obligations that apply to the employers’ workers (The RACE operations are being carried out, and Malolos City is one of the places. In a local television interview, she stated, “We are doing this to help the employers to comply with their commitments, especially those who got delinquent in making the contributions for their employees.
She stated that SSS’s Contribution Penalty Condonation Program provides remedies for employers’ unpaid commitments.
According to Andrada, employers can settle their unpaid premiums through the initiative without incurring any penalties.
The program is now available, please. There are no requirements for paperwork, and you may apply right now, and you won’t be subject to penalties (We are offering such a program. No paperwork is necessary, and they will only apply so that they won’t be penalized),” she continued.
The SSS representative further reaffirmed that the RACE campaign is for the employees’ benefit.
This program, she said, “is to protect employees as it seeks to ensure that their premium contributions, of which part is deducted from their salaries, are timely remitted to the SSS.”
The employees could use benefits including illness, maternity, retirement, death and funeral, disability, and unemployment, thanks to the remittances.
The SSS members are also eligible for loan privileges such as wage, disaster, educational, and pension loans.
