According to a Malacaang statement on Thursday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. nominated Jonathan Dioso Tan as the new chairman and administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

Rolen Paulino, the previous chairman, and administrator of the SBMA, was replaced by Tan, whose nomination paperwork was approved by President Marcos on April 28.

Tan presided over Pandan, Antique, as mayor from 2010 until 2019.

He was elected as the PRO of the LMP-National from 2013 to 2016, during which time he presided over the League of Municipalities (LMP) of the Philippine Antique.

Recall that Paulino submitted his letter of resignation with an effective date of April 15 in order to “give the President a free hand to choose who deems best to steer” the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and the SBMA to “greater heights” in terms of management and new economic prospects.

“As an obedient soldier and devoted public servant, I will follow the directions from the Office of the President. I have faith in the President’s good judgment because he is more knowledgeable, Paulino stated in a statement.
