An R&D facility in the Philippines will get $200 million from Analog Devices.

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), a multinational American semiconductor business, stated on Tuesday (US time) that as part of its expansion plans in the Philippines, it will invest USD200 million (PHP11 billion) in a new research and development center.

At a meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at the Blair House in Washington, DC, ADI made the announcement.

The company’s LEED-certified production plant at the Gateway Business Park in Cavite will be expanded by the R&D facility.

As he reaffirmed the government’s support for ADI’s upcoming endeavors, Marcos thanked the company for its ongoing faith in and investments in the nation.

Marcos questioned firm representatives about their future plans during the meeting in addition to the R&D facility they were planning for the Philippines.

An ADI representative stated that the business would continue to make decisions regarding the manufacturing process and modify the manufacturing setup to place a greater emphasis on modern technology.

Therefore, the official told the President, “Instead of the more basic stuff that may have been done 15, 20, years ago, we have continued to increase the level of technology that’s been introduced since the planning.” “So today, you hear about 12-inch wafers that are 300 mm in diameter. Those wafers have now been removed, and we are establishing a 300-mm Center of Excellence in Cavite to handle all wafer-related programs and projects.

Analog Devices General Trias, Inc. (ADGTI), ADI’s Philippine rival, carries out manufacturing, assembly, testing of semiconductor devices, and dice inspection.

ADGTI had 5,252 employees as of 2022, and its exports that year came to a total of USD 394.39 million.

The ADI University Program, which consists of various events to give engineering students the chance to advance the theory and practice of analog circuit design, is also being carried out by ADGTI in the Philippines.
