MANILA – The Philippines has given out 144,781,087 coronavirus vaccination doses, with 66,979,873 Filipinos having received the whole primary series.

As of Tuesday, just 12,687,684 people had received booster doses.

According to the most recent data from the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19, 72,010,262 people, or 80.01 percent of the country’s population protection target, have received at least one dose.

NTF chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. recognized the country is still trailing in the administration of booster shots or third doses during President Rodrigo Duterte’s prerecorded “Talk to the People” aired late Monday night.

The 12 to 17 age group has received 9,918,970 initial doses, while the 5 to 11 age group has received 2,694,251.

“Maganda ang coverage natin from the ages of 18 to 59.” Ito po ‘yung adult population at mayroon po tayong (From 18 to 59 years old, we have a strong vaccination coverage.) “This is the adult population, and we’ve reached (about) 94.28 percent of the target, with 52 million people having already received the first dose,” Galvez added.

Galvez stated that the government had already vaccinated 6,907,715 people aged 60 and up with at least one dose.

Vaccination in the Soccsksargen region is also improving, with 65.52 percent of the target population of 4.07 million receiving the first dose and 58.55 percent, or 2.38 million, obtaining the entire vaccine.

However, vaccination administration in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has reached a stalemate.

With only 27.28 percent of its 3.5 million target population fully vaccinated, BARMM ranks worst among 17 areas in terms of vaccinees.

Following the May 9 elections, special immunization days will be organized throughout the region.
