The Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulTa) package for extended primary care benefits is still being promoted by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in the Western Visayas Region (PhilHealth-6) to its members.

The Konsulta package is for the early diagnosis and prevention of disease. We expect our members to be more aware of their health issues if the primary care benefit package is properly optimized, according to Janimhe C. Jalbuna, head of the PhilHealth-6 public affairs section, in an interview on Monday.

Around 1,446,795 of the 2,409,911 intended participants in the region had registered for the program as of April of this year.

Only 33,035 people have sought their initial appointment with a qualified healthcare professional or had their first patient encounter (FPE).

Jalbuna claimed that they always advise patients to choose early detection over waiting for their ailment to worsen to receive the proper treatment.

The outpatient package is free for members and their dependents and includes a consultation, 13 laboratory tests, and 21 prescription pills and medicines.

During the KonSulTa registration and profiling at the Iloilo Convention Center, concurrent with the national summit as part of PhilHealth’s 28th-anniversary celebration on June 3, an additional 80 members experienced their first successful patient encounter.

Four city-wide accredited healthcare facilities participated in the registration, including Iloilo City’s newly accredited Molo and Mandurriao health offices.

“It focused more on health screening and profiling. They utilized the benefit after consulting with doctors, according to Jalbuna.

As of April 30, PhilHealth has accredited 122 KonSulTa providers in the area, and 13 more are in the process. Around 20,000 members and dependents are projected to be served by each provider.
