🌧️ MANILA – The western section of Luzon will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms today as the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” continues to affect the region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of the 4 a.m. weather update, PAGASA reported that provinces like Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, and Benguet will be affected by the habagat, with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms expected in these areas. Residents in these provinces must be cautious, as moderate to heavy rains may lead to flooding and landslides.

For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, isolated rain showers are anticipated due to localized thunderstorms. Although not as widespread as in the western section of Luzon, residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and prepared.

In the extreme Northern Luzon, strong winds and rough seas will prevail, making it unsafe for fishing boats and small sea vessels to venture out into the sea. Larger sea vessels are also advised to be cautious against big waves.

Over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon, sea conditions are expected to be rough to very rough. To avoid any mishaps, fishing boats, and small sea vessels are strongly advised to stay ashore until the situation improves.

For the rest of Luzon, moderate to strong winds are expected, accompanied by moderate to rough seas.

In other regions, the weather will be relatively milder, with light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas, according to PAGASA.
