In some businesses, vaccination is required: exec of the palace

A Palace adviser wants to make immunization against the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19) mandatory for workers in high-risk and labor-intensive industries.

Joey Concepcion, the Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and creator of Go Negosyo, said in a statement on Friday that he has written to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, requesting mandatory Covid-19 vaccinations for specified workers.

“At all costs, we must defend the unvaccinated, as well as all employees and jobs.” “The more reason we need to demand completely vaccinated labor-intensive personnel and economic front-liners to be fully vaccinated, the more reason we need to require fully vaccinated clients in our enterprises,” he said.

Workers in the hospitality, tourism, restaurants, retail, and personal care services, as well as those in labor-intensive industries like construction, automotive, wearables and manufacturing, electronics and semiconductors, and business process outsourcing, should all be vaccinated, according to Concepcion.

According to Concepcion, the recommendation will be studied by the labor department.

“I’d also like to thank Secretary Bello for standing with the private sector and supporting their ongoing struggle to safeguard their businesses, employees, and consumers,” Concepcion added.

He believes that immunization should be accelerated because Covid-19 incidence is decreasing and a rise is unlikely.

Concepcion and Carlito Galvez Jr., chief secretary of the National Task Force Against Covid-19, hailed the arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport of 698,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccinations acquired by the private sector under the “Dose of Hope” program.
