Parents in Cebu City are being urged to follow the PRRD’s ‘no-kids-at-mall’ rule.

On Wednesday, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) advised parents in the city to heed President Rodrigo Duterte’s instruction not to bring children under the age of 11 to public locations.

In a news conference, Cebu City Police Office deputy director for operations Lt. Col. Wilbert Parilla stated that they are committed to implementing the presidential direction in order to help continue the advances made in the fight against coronavirus disease in 2019. (Covid-19).

Because their age group has not been included in the national vaccination rollout, Duterte’s directive, he claimed, is meant to protect youngsters who are vulnerable to viral infection.

“I warn parents not to put their children at danger because they are not vaccinated and are at risk of contracting Covid-19,” Parilla added, stressing that most little children brought to malls do not wear protective masks.

Parilla added that because they will be dealing with kids, the local police will meet with officials from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to discuss the parameters for following Duterte’s command.

To avoid being exposed to the virus, the police officer further advised parents to only bring vaccinated children and adolescent minors to malls and closed places, leaving unvaccinated children at home.

Duterte called on local government units (LGUs) to pass local legislation prohibiting unvaccinated minors from walking around public places during his prerecorded “Talk to the People” broadcast late Monday night.

Children, especially those who have not yet been immunized against Covid-19, will continue to be at risk, according to the President.

“They cannot, without a doubt, expose youngsters under the age of 12 and those who have not yet been vaccinated to the risks of Covid-19 in public areas,” he continued.

A two-year-old youngster tested positive for Covid-19 three days after visiting a mall in Manila, according to the President.
