After a month of power outages caused by Typhoon Odette, electricity has been restored in 110 of Southern Leyte’s 500 villages.

Out of the 105,787 impacted power consumers, the Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative (Soleco) reported on Sunday that at least 36,016 residences and companies have been energized as of January 28.

“As of this writing, 21.87 percent of communities in Soleco’s coverage region are already partially powered. According to Soleco’s survey, 34.05 percent of consumers are already energized.

Maasin City, Macrohon, Padre Burgos, Tomas Oppus, Bontoc, Sogod, Liloan, Saint Bernard, San Juan, Hinunangan, and Silago villages have partially energized neighborhoods.

Malitbog, Libagon, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, Anahawan, Hinundayan, and Limasawa are still in the dark.

Soleco’s services are expected to be fully restored by mid-February.

Over 100 linemen have been dispatched by Task Force Kapatid, which is made up of workers from Eastern Visayas electric cooperatives, to repair damaged distribution facilities.

They’re backed up by teams from Luzon’s power cooperatives.
