In the three-day Bayanihan, Bakunahan national vaccination days, 439,371 people in the Ilocos Region were inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Pangasinan, including its chartered city of Dagupan, has the greatest number of vaccinated individuals as of December 1, according to a study released by the Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region (DOH-CHD-1).

Ilocos Sur came in second with 64,467 votes, followed by La Union with 63,535 votes, and Ilocos Norte with 59,117 votes.

Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, the chief of the Pangasinan Provincial Health Office (PHO), congratulated the citizens who received the vaccine as well as the medical healthcare personnel in a phone conversation.

“We appreciate you everyone for your cooperation and the hard work of our medical healthcare staff on behalf of Governor Amado Espino III. “You’ve been there since the pandemic began,” she remarked.

De Guzman went on to say that they will begin giving booster doses to medical frontline personnel, and that the local government units (LGUs) may continue with their mass immunization program.

DOH-CHD-1 said in a statement that LGUs can prolong national vaccination days to Friday if the central office agrees to the voluntary extension.

“The LGUs are allowed to extend the operations of the Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Covid-19 vaccination days to maintain the momentum of the national vaccination days and to take advantage of the constituents’ interest in vaccination,” read advisory no. 111 of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center.

Meanwhile, from November 29 to December 1, faculty and staff from the Philippine Investment Management Consultants Inc.-University of Pangasinan (PHINMA-UPang) and Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU) took part in national immunization days.

Their immunization teams, according to PHINMA-UPang College of Nursing instructor Leonardo Sanchez, were made up of staff and student volunteers from the school’s Nursing Department College of Allied Health Services (level 4 nursing students).

“We were able to work with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and subsequently the City Health Office to coordinate.” We truly want to advocate for vaccinations for all of our students, even though we’ve opened our school not just to UPang students but also to people of adjacent Dagupan areas because we want to have herd immunity (population protection),” she said in an interview on Wednesday.

Another vaccination day has been scheduled for December 15 in collaboration with the Dagupan city authority, according to Sanchez.

Hilda Cruz, a faculty member at LNU College of Nursing and one of the school’s Covid-19 immunization push coordinators, stated their vaccinators were largely volunteer jabbers from the Colleges of Nursing and Medical Technology.

They also include nurses who have graduated from the school, College of Medicine clerks and interns, and Level 5 nursing and med-tech students, according to Cruz.

College students and those in the pediatric group, or those aged 12 to 17, received the majority of the vaccines.

The institution collaborated with the Association of Private Schools, both primary and secondary.
