On Independence Day, the Philippines’ recovery count reached 1,225,359, or 93.7 percent of overall cases, with the Department of Health (DOH) recording 8,940 new survivors.

There were also 8,027 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 60,341, or 4.6 percent of all illnesses.

Meanwhile, 145 more deaths brought the total number of confirmed cases to 22,652, or 1.73 percent.

The government has confirmed 1,308,352 cases since the coronavirus pandemic began.

90.7 percent of current cases have mild symptoms, 5% are asymptomatic, 1.3 percent are critical, 1.7 percent are severe, and 1.24 percent are moderate, according to the DOH.

Across the country, 57 percent of the 3,500 critical care unit (ICU) beds, 47 percent of the 19,200 isolation beds, and 47 percent of the 12,300 ward beds devoted to Covid-19 patients are filled.

In Metro Manila, 48 percent of the 1,200 ICU beds are in use, 36 percent of the 4,800 isolation beds are in use, and 33 percent of the 3,600 ward beds are in use.

The Department of Health (DOH) advised Filipinos to continue doing their bit by following health regulations to prevent getting and spreading the illness as the nation commemorated its 123rd Independence Day and recalled the sacrifices of its predecessors.
