Since January, over 17 million ballots have been printed: Comelec

Since the start of the printing process last month, more than 17 million official ballots for the May elections have been printed, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

According to Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, a total of 17,502,631 votes had been printed out of a total of 65,721,230 ballots to be printed as of Monday.

“As you can see, we have a long way to go,” he stated in a virtual news conference. “However, it’s also important to emphasize that this is already a large portion of the overall work that we need to accomplish.”

The diagram depicts the ballots for six regions, as well as ballots for foreign and local absentee voting.

There were 1,868,798 ballots issued for Caraga, 2,298,930 for Zamboanga Peninsula, 3,060,485, Northern Mindanao, 3,236,251, Davao area, 2,606,492, Soccsargen, and 2,588,193 for Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Meanwhile, 86,280 manual ballots were printed for the BARMM’s 63 barangays in North Cotabato.

A total of 79,080 manual ballots have been printed for overseas voting (OV), while 1,618,122 automated ballots have been printed for the OV automated election system (AES).

A total of 60,000 ballots have been printed for Local Absentee Voting (LAV).

On January 21, the Comelec began producing ballots.

Jimenez further stated that out of the more than 65 million registered voters, 53,795,522 are between the ages of 18 and 57.

People aged 18 to 41 have a population of 37,015,901, while those aged 58 to 60 have a population of 11,925,708.

Female voters account for 33,644,237 votes, while male voters account for 32,076,93.

The province of Calabarzon has the most voters (9192,205), followed by the National Capital Region (7301,393).

The Cordillera Administrative Region, with 1,077,900 voters, has the lowest voter turnout.
