Booster vaccinations will be prioritized in Cebu City during the 3rd ‘Bakunahan’

The beneficiaries of initial doses of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination will be the priority target for the third run of the “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” on February 10-11, according to the top health official here on Wednesday.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, the chairman of the Cebu City Health Department (CCHD), stated the Department of Health (DOH) has set a target of 58,000 people to be vaccinated during the two-day National Vaccination Days.

The municipal administration will operate 40 vaccination stations in clustered barangays during the nationwide immunization campaign, including the 11 fixed inoculation sites that administer Covid-19 vaccines on a regular basis.

“We’re ready for tomorrow” (Feb.10). We’ve notified our volunteers about their responsibilities. “Our forms have already been delivered to various immunization sites participating in the Bayanihan, Bakunahan,” Ibones stated.

He stated that the city government anticipates barangay authorities’ assistance in setting up pop-up stations and disseminating information about the huge inoculation event.

Ibones praised the Cebu Medical Society, led by Dr. Minnie Monteclaro, for providing volunteer medical front-liners who will handle the vaccination desk and examine people before and after the vaccine is administered.

To prepare for the activity, the CCHD and the Monteclaro group had a series of meetings.

Ibones also thanked the Cebu City Medical Center, Chong Hua Hospital, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, and Cebu’s several nursing schools for supplying volunteer nurses to the city, as well as the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. for giving blood pressure equipment.

To date, the city has received inoculation requests from 1.06 million people, 82,512 youngsters and teens aged 12 to 17, and 6,542 children aged five to eleven.

“Those who have had their primary doses are encouraged to go to any of their immunization sites tomorrow (for a booster shot),” Ibones stated.
