PH is back at low risk for Covid-19, preparing for a new normal.

MANILA, Philippines β€” Acting Presidential spokesperson, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, stated Tuesday that the government is already preparing for the transition to a “new normal” now that the country has been reclassified as low-risk for Covid-19.

“Ang National Capital Region and the Philippines are both classified as low-risk areas. Ito sa tatlong metrics na ginamit (The National Capital Region and the Philippines as a whole are now classified as low-risk). This is based on three metrics: the number of cases, the average daily attack rate per 100,000 people, and the capacity of the health system “During the Palace briefing, Nograles stated.

In the same briefing, Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire of the Department of Health (DOH) stated that the average daily cases per day from February 8 to 14 were 56 percent lower than the infections recorded from February 1 to 7.

The consistent drop of new Covid-19 cases throughout the country, according to Vergeire, has aided in managing the national health system’s capacity.

DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said the Philippines had reached a low-risk case classification with a negative two-week growth rate of -74 percent and a low-risk average daily attack rate of 5.26 per 100,000 people in his report to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during the Talk to the People on Monday night.

All of the country’s regions are classified as low risk, save for Region 11 (Davao), the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 6 (Western Visayas), and Region 12 (Soccsksargen), which are all classified as moderate risk.

According to Duque, the national intensive care unit use rate is low risk, at 34.12 percent.

Meanwhile, he claims that only about half of the country’s Covid-19 beds and mechanical ventilators are being used.

Nograles credited the current Covid-19 situation to the population’s cooperation in following basic public health requirements and receiving Covid-19 vaccine doses.

“Our collaborative efforts have resulted in all of the progress we’ve made in reducing the number of instances, and we thank our kababayans (countrymen) for their collaboration.” “As we seek to build on the success we’ve made, we ask everyone to stay aware of our health guidelines,” Nograles added.

Secretary Vince Dizon, the Presidential Adviser on Covid-19 Response, said in his report to Duterte that the National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 and the Department of Health is working on a “new normal” roadmap.

The new normal roadmap, according to Dizon, will be released in the first week of March and given to Duterte.

“This will really symbolize our return to some kind of normalcy after dealing with the pandemic for the past two years,” Dizon added.

According to the plan, the government expects the Philippines’ economy to recover while expanding Covid-19 vaccine coverage to more Filipinos.

The Philippines has administered 132,031,140 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, resulting in the vaccination of 61,225,811 Filipinos, including those who received the single-dose Janssen and Sputnik Light vaccines.

Additional dosages or booster shots were given to 9,161,128 Filipinos who were totally protected.
