Mabalacat City will begin vaccinations for children on February 18th.

PAMPANGA CITY, MABALACAT – On Friday, February 18, the municipal government will launch its coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pediatric immunization program for children aged five to eleven years old.

Dr. Jose Antonio Rivera, the city’s Covid-19 Response Integrated System (CRIS) chief implementer, announced on Wednesday that the city’s pediatric immunization for children aged 5 to 11 will be hosted at the SM City Clark – IMAX Cinema.

Rivera stated that the city will test the use of reformulated Pfizer BioNTech dosages to administer Covid-19 vaccines to underprivileged Mabalaqueno children.

“Minabuti ng ating Mayor Cris Garbo na unahin ang mga kabataang nasa marginalized sector,” said Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino. Sila ang uunahin nating bakunahan ngayon Biyernes sa SM City Clark (Mayor Cris Garbo and Vice Mayor Gerald Aquino have opted to prioritize marginalized children.) In an interview, he remarked, “They will be the first to be vaccinated on Friday at the SM City Clark).”

Meanwhile, Maricris David, the city’s CRIS Focal Person for Pediatric Immunization, noted that preregistration for pediatric vaccination is currently open.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to preregister their children at their local Department of Education (DepEd) schools, the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) in City Hall for those enrolled outside the city, or their daycare centers, according to the city government.

According to Garbo, the city’s pandemic situation is steadily improving, as seen by a sharp drop in daily Covid-19 infections and a large number of recoveries following a surge of Omicron variant-caused cases in January.

He ascribed Mabalacat’s excellent recovery rate to the fact that a large proportion of its citizens had been immunized against the deadly disease.

There have been 8,770 confirmed Covid-19 instances in the city so far, with only nine ongoing cases. The overall number of recoveries is 8,524, and there are 237 fatalities.
