CDO keeps an eye on 121 ‘Omicron’ close contacts.

CITY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO – The City Health Office (CHO) in this city has increased its surveillance of the second batch of persons infected with the Omicron strain of the coronavirus illness 2019.

CHO medical officer Dr. Ted Yu Jr. said in an online briefing on Thursday that they have identified 121 first-generation close contacts of the city’s newly reported 32 Omicron cases.

Yu stated that none of his close acquaintances are currently suffering from Acute Respiratory Illnesses (ARI) or Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI).

Mayor Oscar Moreno emphasized the importance of continuing to monitor close connections, even if they had been infected for more than a month.

“Even if it’s been a month, we should keep going (the monitoring). When it comes to variations, the best thing about our contact tracing, validation, and assessment will actually provide as good reference material for the report to Philippine Genome Center “According to Moreno.

On Tuesday, the city government announced the discovery of 32 new Omicron cases, 31 of which were local and one of which was a returning abroad Filipino (ROF).

Five of the instances were from Balulang village, three from Kauswagan, Nazareth, Iponan, and Cugman villages, and two each from Patag, Carmen, Macabalan, and Gusa villages, according to Yu’s prior report.

San Simon, Puntod, Bulua Macasandig, Bugo, Lapasan, and Indahag villages each had one incidence of the variation.

The first seven Omicron variant’s 18 first-generation closed contacts tested positive for Covid-19, but only with that variation.

So far, the CHO has counted 39 Omicron instances.

Meanwhile, 44 new Covid-19 instances have been discovered in the city, increasing the overall number of active cases to 1,974 and the total number of cases to 25,366.

After the CHO reported 165 fresh recoveries, the total number of viral recoveries has reached 22,480. A new death was also recorded, bringing the total to 915.
