PAMPANGA’S CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The 2.6-kilometer bypass road, which will act as a detour for traffic traveling from Magalang to Angeles City and vice versa, is now open.

The opening of the Angeles-Magalang bypass route was led by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office on Tuesday.

It is projected to greatly reduce traffic congestion at the intersection of Magalang-Angeles Road and Don Aniceto Gueco Avenue, which is frequently congested.

“Motorists in the crowded neighborhood of Pulung Maragul Rotonda in Angeles City will finally enjoy the ease of traffic.” “Those traveling to Angeles City or Clark from the Angeles-Magalang-Mabalacat Road, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Balibago, and Magalang now have an alternative route,” DPWH Assistant District Engineer Arnold Ocampo remarked during the occasion.

After the national government funded the first five linking projects, including the renovation of the PEZA Road that connects to Angeles-Magalang Road, development began in 2019.

“Motorists can now enter or exit through Aniceto Gueco, saving them at least 30 minutes of travel time,” stated DPWH District Engineer Arleen Beltran.

The PHP245 million project comprised the building of retaining walls and concrete slope protection on both approaches to the NLEX Overpass, box culverts at Pulung Cacutud, and road safety equipment such guardrails, hazard markers, and pavement markings.

Two further projects began in 2020 and are anticipated to be completed within the year, one of which is an 88-meter two-lane bridge across NLEX.
