CITY OF CAGAYAN DE ORO – In the 2019 elections, the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP), a political party with members all throughout the Philippines, has endorsed incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo for president and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for vice president.

Rufus Rodriguez, the city’s 2nd District Representative, voiced his support for Robredo during the CDP’s 10th National Assembly on Sunday in Barangay Nazareth.

Duterte’s name, as well as the names of the party’s 12 senate candidates, was revealed on Rodriguez’s Facebook page.

“After careful consideration of six presidential contenders, my intellect also tells me that the best choice our country will have is Leni Robredo,” the congressman stated during his speech at the convention.

Rufus emphasized Robredo’s legal qualifications for the presidency, citing her reaction to the epidemic and Typhoon Odette disasters last year, as well as her previous accomplishments.

Reelectionists Juan Miguel Zubiri, Joel Villanueva, Risa Hontiveros, Dick Gordon, and Win Gatchalian, as well as Mark Villar, Chel Diokno, JV Ejercito, Alan Peter Cayetano, Gilbert Teodoro, Jejomar Binay, and Raffy Tulfo, were nominated as the CDP’s senators of choice.

Rodriguez is running for reelection in the 2nd District as part of a coalition that includes the CDP, the PaDayon Pilipino party, which is led by Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vicente Emano, and Bag-ong Kagayan, which is led by former Cabinet member Jose Gabriel La Via.

La Via is running for mayor against Rolando Uy, the incumbent 1st District Representative, who is campaigning for former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Duterte.

La Via has yet to announce who he will vote for president, but he has already pledged his support to Duterte.
