MANILA, Philippines — According to a health official, the rate of adverse events following immunization against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is only.07 percent of the total jabs provided.

Since the Covid-19 vaccine deployment began last year, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire remarked in an online media forum that complaints of adverse events following vaccination (AEFI) had remained at a low level.

“The amount of suspected adverse reaction reports is around 94,000 plus or.07 percent, and these are minimal side effects,” she said.

In total, 140 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been given out in the country.

Over 65 million people have been fully vaccinated, with 11.8 million receiving their booster injection.

“‘Yung sa (For major adverse effects), it’s only.0005 percent of the total doses delivered,” Vergeire explained.

She stressed that only individuals with serious AEFI are subjected to expert evaluation of causation analysis.

Once a definitive judgment of causality has been given by the experts of the National Adverse Events Following Immunization Committee, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) would process compensation for the family of those who suffered from major AEFI.

“We’ll have PhilHealth put this out for the public’s information,” Vergeire stated.
