By June, PH will need 23 million doses to meet its goal of 90 million vaccinees.
MANILA, Philippines โ The Philippines is 23 million vaccinees short of meeting its goal of fully inoculating 90 million Filipinos by the end of the administration on June 30, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said in a Laging Handa briefing that 67 million people had been properly vaccinated since 2021.
With less than three months until President Rodrigo Duterte’s term ends, the official said the government would work to meet the goal by increasing house-to-house vaccination campaigns, bringing vaccination to workplaces, and declaring more “special vaccination days” in areas where vaccine uptake is low.
“kailangan nating i-push, napakalaki ng ating challenge kailangan nating i-push kailangan nating i-push kailangan nating i-pus Ngayon ay 67 million tayo, so may three million tayong shortfall (with a target of 70 million by March 2022), tapos sa 90 million may mga 20 million tayo na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na no (kailangang bakunahan). Despite the difficulty, we must press on. We already have 67 million, a three-million gap, and we have more than 20 million for the 90 million targets. It would be challenging, but we’ll see what we can do to improve it) “she stated
“We’ll have more special vaccination days after Holy Week in regions na mababa ang uptake (where uptake is poor),” she continued.
As of this writing, 75 percent of the 8.7 million senior persons in the United States have been fully immunize, while 22.92 percent have gotten their booster dose.
At least 2.1 million of the 14 million target vaccinees between the ages of five and eleven have finished their initial vaccine series as well.
Cabotaje stated in the same interview that the recent special immunization days held in Cebu, Davao, Cotabato, and the Bangsamoro region were successful.
According to her, the number of vaccinees in Cotabato and the Bangsamoro during special vaccination days was higher than on usual days, although being relatively low in comparison to other areas.
During the three-day drive, the DOH reported 32,826 people were vaccinated in Cebu province, 42,986 in the Davao Region, 1,621 in Soccsksargen, and 12,606 in BARMM.
