Duterte expresses gratitude to Puregold for aiding SMEs.
MANILA โ President Rodrigo Roa Duterte thanked Puregold Price Club Inc. on Wednesday for assisting small and medium businesses (SMEs) that are “sensitive to external shocks.”
Duterte commended Puregold’s efforts to aid SMEs such as community stores by holding its 14th Tindahan ni Aling Puring Negosyo Convention in an address held in Pasay City.
“Let me so convey my tremendous thanks to Puregold for not only hosting this event but also for making it the company’s primary aim to assist small businesses like sari-sari stores,” he stated.
Because SMEs are “one of the backbones of our economy,” Duterte said the event would inspire more economic activity amid the current coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
“If the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that small businesses are vulnerable to exogenous shocks like financial crises, natural disasters, and forced changes in business practices and environments. As a result, I’d want to emphasize how important and commendable this Puregold initiative is “he stated.
This, despite the fact that SMEs have created “countless jobs” for the country’s expanding workforce.
SMEs, according to Duterte, help the government battle hunger and poverty by utilizing the Filipino people’s talents.
“Our SMEs are forced to adopt ideas and tactics that will help them attain stability and success as they are exposed to meaningful interactions with suppliers, manufacturers, and other entrepreneurs,” Duterte added.
Puregold should continue to develop “enabling” business processes for its customers and stakeholders, according to Duterte.
“It is also my hope that, as in the past, Puregold will continue to be a committed partner of the government in promoting a progressive economy that benefits all Filipinos,” he said.
The Tindahan ni Aling Puring Negosyo Convention, held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from May 19 to 21, brings together small retail store owners and other company owners from all over the Philippines.
The Tindahan ni Aling Puring is a unique and comprehensive membership program for sari-sari store owners and other business owners that provides discounts and other benefits such as free delivery, business financing support, and even free insurance to members.
There are currently over 600,000 Tindahan ni Aling Puring members registered around the country.
