Additional capabilities will be added to BPI’s digital platforms, according to a company executive, as more consumers use digital applications despite having access to banks as the economy continues to recover.
BPI Consumer Platforms Business Lead Fitzgerald Chee stated during a virtual conference on Friday that roughly 60% of the clientele of the Ayala-led bank are signed up for their electronic banking system.
Granted that there are obstacles and problems in relation to the progress the economy has made. We think there’s still a lot of possibilities for us to advance and significantly expand this digital environment and any transactions conducted here,” he said.
Chee claimed that as demonstrated even before the installation of the movement restrictions when the pandemic struck, the additional capabilities of their electronic banking systems are intended to make it simpler for their clients to conduct their financial operations.
He declared that there would be more instructional programs to show individuals how to conduct their internet transactions securely.
“You can see a difference in the whole country,” he said, “as we are able to urge more individuals to enroll (in the bank’s online banking program).”
Chee claimed that traditional banking services are also affected by the move to digital transactions.
However, he made it clear that this move will not result in fewer job prospects for their staff.
We think we can change the branch’s function from being a transactional aspect to engaging in more value-adding dialogues with clients, he continued.
