The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will look for methods to increase the amount of money it brings in from its yearly special sweepstakes so that more can go toward the fight against malnutrition.

We conduct an annual special sweepstakes in accordance with the nutrition law in order to raise awareness about our fight against Filipino malnutrition. We’ll attempt to make it much higher so that we can fight Filipino children’s malnutrition even more), “Junie Cua, the PCSO’s chair, stated in a statement on Tuesday.

Republic Act 4621 requires the PCSO to conduct yearly special raffles in support of the Philippine Nutrition Foundation (NFP).

The NFP lottery is usually drawn in July.

Cua made the declaration in response to a World Food Programme analysis that stated that the program barely covers little more than a quarter of Filipino pupils.

Over 3.5 million Filipino kids, or 27% of the student population, benefited from government-run school meal programs in 2022, according to the WFP’s “Status of School Feeding Globally 2022” report.

In comparison to 2021, when only 2.3 million students benefited from the food program, there was a 16 percent rise.

Cua claimed that in order to combat malnutrition, the government needs all the assistance it can receive, particularly in the form of increased funding.
