Pasig has joined the list of cities that have imposed restrictions on the mobility of unvaccinated people.

Pasig, like its other cities in the NCR, is restricting the movement of unvaccinated people, allowing them to leave only when purchasing or accessing vital products and services or going to work.

Mayor Vico Sotto said in a late Thursday social media post that their municipal legislation is in compliance with the Metro Manila Council’s previously agreed memorandum, which urges that unvaccinated people stay at home while Metro Manila is on Alert Level 3.

“Sabi ng mga eksperto, lahat tayo ay ma-e-expose sa Omicron variety,” says one expert. As specialists put it, we’re all exposed to the Omicron version. That’s why, not just as individuals, but as a community, we need adequate security),” Sotto wrote on Facebook.

The Pasig City Council’s legislation restricts outdoor exercise to the immediate vicinity of the residence, while unvaccinated workers must undergo a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) Covid-19 test every two weeks at their own expense.

If the RT-PCR test and/or result are not available right away, a fast test might be used.

Those who can present a medical certificate stating that they are unable to be vaccinated, a certificate of membership in a religious sector that does not allow any vaccination or those who have been partially vaccinated and are waiting for the second dose will be exempt from the testing requirement.

Individuals who breach the ordinance will face a fine of PHP1,000 and/or a sentence of not less than one month but not more than six months in prison, or both, depending on the court’s discretion.

Businesses that break the ordinance face a PHP5,000 fine and a seven-day suspension of their business permit and license to operate.

Pasig has 3,666 active Covid-19 cases as of Thursday.
