MANILA – Malacañang said on Tuesday that the government’s Covid-19 pandemic response and strategic plans will be handed over to the next administration.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, the acting presidential spokesperson, stated that Phase 5 of the government’s Covid-19 National Action Plan (NAP 5) will ensure a smooth transition of pandemic response methods.

“Iyang document na yan (That paper) [under NAP 5], as well as all of the successes in terms of vaccination rate, safety seal compliance, and minimum public health standards compliance. We will hand over everything to the next administration (we will hand over everything to the future administration) “Nograles remarked.

He stated that the NAP 5 includes methods for protecting the community and individuals from the epidemic while also increasing the country’s economic growth so that more people may reclaim their livelihoods.

“The end of the pandemic is a technical and medical term, so we’ll leave that up to the health experts to define and actually state kung na narating na ba natin ‘yung point na iyan (if we’ve reached that point),” Nograles said when asked if the government expects the pandemic to be over before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down.

Nograles believes that the country’s vaccination rate needs to be increased further to finally stop the pandemic.

“Para marating natin yung state na iyan, vital po na mataas yung vaccine coverage po natin, and lahat po tayo ay nagko-comply sa (To reach that state, it is necessary that we have high vaccination coverage, and everyone is compliant with) minimum public health standards,” Nograles added.

The Philippines has administered 132,031,140 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, resulting in the vaccination of 61,225,811 Filipinos, including those who received the single-dose Janssen and Sputnik Light vaccines.

Additional dosages or booster shots were given to 9,161,128 Filipinos who were totally protected.
