MANILA – According to OCTA Research Fellow Dr. Guido David, the Covid-19 situation in the country has become manageable as a result of the government’s increased and enhanced immunization campaign.

David said the country has a “successful” vaccination program while addressing at the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Sa pagpapabuti ng kalagayan natin sa bansa, malaking tulong nito (vaccine). If not, nagla-lockdown pa din tayo (This has contributed to the improvement of our country’s predicament.) We could have had to impose lockdowns until now if not for this),” he said.

The government’s enormous vaccination effort has also boosted the country’s “wall of immunity,” he noted.

“Kahit magkaroon ng increase or pagtaas ng kaso, tingin ko usually mild na lang yung mga kaso,” David added, asking the remaining uninfected population to get the Covid-19 vaccination for protection against the terrible disease.

Meanwhile, David believes it is too soon to discuss border restrictions in the Philippines in light of the appearance of Covid-19 Omicron sub-variants.

“Rather of hurting the economy, we will intensify the vaccination effort and ensure that health protocols are followed,” he continued.

Both initiatives, according to David, are the most effective ways to balance the economy and promote public health in the midst of the health crisis.

To far, the Philippines has fully vaccinated 69,310,242 Filipinos across the country, with 13,833,923 receiving booster doses.
