Duterte claims to have done everything he could and apologizes for any shortcomings.

MANILA โ€“ Outgoing President Rodrigo R. Duterte apologized on Monday for his administration’s “failure” to implement some programs and projects during his six-year term but cautioned that the time allotted to him may not be sufficient to complete what they started.

Duterte claimed he had done everything he could for the country and people during his six-year stint in office during a speech at the inauguration of the new Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) head office building in Pasig City.

“I’ll be gone in a few days.” Yung nagawa ko, para sa akin, ‘yun na ‘yun (What I’ve completed, that’s all for me). The very best that my efforts can provide. If ‘yun kulang,’ pasensya na po. (If it isn’t enough, I apologize.) He said, “I can’t do it anymore.”)

Duterte explained that his administration was not inattentive, but rather rushed.

“The things that I failed to do, generally not due to neglect or may mga flaws ako, but talagang (I may have flaws, but it is truly) time.” He stated that six years would not be enough to complete all of the projects.

Despite this, Duterte expressed gratitude for the Filipino people’s support.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyo (Thank you very much) and your assistance in my journey in the six years na binigyan nyo ako ng honor maging presidente ng Pilipinas,” he added.

This isn’t the first time Duterte has shown gratitude to the public in a televised speech. He’s been doing so since the national and local elections on May 9th.

He has stated that his administration’s achievements are “the result of synergy and collaboration between the national and local governments, as well as the people.”

When he returns to civilian life, Duterte promised to continue serving the people by continuing his battle against illegal drugs.

He also stated that he is eager to assist Filipinos who seek his counsel.

After few weeks till he leaves Malacaan Palace, Duterte expressed his gratitude to Filipinos for their continuing support.

Duterte received 67.2 percent approval and 61.2 percent trust in the “Pahayag First Quarter Survey” conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia Inc. from March 30 to April 6.

“The longevity of President Duterte’s popularity is a rarity in Philippine presidential politics,” according to PUBLiCUS.
