PAL plans to increase its service to Hong Kong.

As Hong Kong’s special administrative area loosens its Covid-19 limitations, flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is considering expanding its services to and from Hong Kong.

Prior to the pandemic, PAL ran six daily flights to and from Hong Kong. Currently, there is only one daily service to Hong Kong.

As conditions improve and constraints loosen, we anticipate expanding our operations to and from Hong Kong, PAL spokesman Cielo Villaluna told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) over the weekend.

The removal of the flying ban on airlines that have carried passengers with the coronavirus was recently announced by Hong Kong authorities. It still mandates a seven-day hotel quarantine for incoming travelers.

The Hong Kong government is reportedly looking at a shortened quarantine period.

Villaluna stated that the “great clamor among stakeholders for an increase in flight frequency is expected.”

In order to give an overview of PAL advancements and recovery efforts, Joe Kwok, the regional head for greater china at PAL, recently met with industry players in Hong Kong, according to Villaluna.

To reassure them that there are health and safety requirements in the Philippines, the team visited Filipino tourism and business associations and groups, she said.

The frequency will rise based on market demand outside of Hong Kong. “Setting up twice-daily flights is the aim. Everything will be based on demand. For now, once every day is acceptable “Kwok was cited by Villaluna as saying.

In an effort to streamline the process and increase the number of flights, PAL is also evaluating its cargo services policies.

Villaluna stated that PAL Hong Kong is evaluating the process for accepting commercial cargo in order to eventually offer more flights.

Even when PAL was one of the blacklisted carriers, she noted, PAL continued to operate its cargo out of Hong Kong.
