On Wednesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that it will increase its efforts to support the global police community in its fight against transnational crimes.

At the 17th Annual Conference of Heads of National Central Bureaus of the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO-INTERPOL) in Lyon, France, which was attended by about 300 participants from 142 INTERPOL member countries, PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. gave this assurance.

When it comes to combating recent illegal activity involving international crime syndicates, Azurin claimed that the Philippines is never far behind.

In a recent international law enforcement operation including the Philippines, the United States, Norway, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany, he also emphasized the pivotal role played by the PNP Women and Children Protection Center.

This, according to him, is evidence of how responsive the nation is as a participating member of an international coalition of law enforcement organizations that have a shared interest in preventing transnational crime involving the sexual exploitation of children online.

Azurin continued by saying that the PNP, along with the Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), had a hand in dismantling the network of organized crime groups engaged in online financial fraud from both domestic and foreign boiler room operations.

“With the breaking of foreign-led drug syndicates operating in the Philippines, the PNP’s robust posture in support of the national strategy against drug trafficking and abuse has successfully severed the supply chain of illegal substances,” Azurin continued.

Azurin will be attending the conference with the rest of the Philippine delegation, which also includes Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta, Director for Operations, Maj. Gen. Eliseo Cruz, Director for Investigation and Detective Management, and Maj. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, Director for Information and Communication Technology Management.
