Employees of BOC plant 4,5K trees nationwide.

A nationwide simultaneous tree-planting event was held by representatives and staff of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) from its headquarters office and the 17 collection districts.

The BOC stated in a statement on Monday that during the “Puno ng Kinabukasan” program, which was held simultaneously in many places on November 26, staff planted a total of 4,500 saplings.

At Sitio Bulihan, Barangay Tabangao Ambulong in Batangas City, Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz oversaw a collaborative tree-planting effort by the Central Office, Ports of Manila, Batangas, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and the Manila International Container Port.

“It’s not always a good idea to plant trees. It is both the most self-centered and altruistic thing you can do. When we plant trees and care for the environment, we are also caring for our future. You plant a tree for yourself and your children because you want to assure the survival of your lineage, but you also ensure that other people and species will benefit from it “BOC’s head stated.

Narra, molave, mahogany, and mangrove trees were among the seedlings planted.

Additionally, tree-planting events were held in the cities of the ports of Tacloban, Surigao, Subic, Clark, Davao, Cebu, Cagayan De Oro, Limay, Zamboanga, Aparri, Iloilo, and Legazpi.

Ikaw, Ako, at ang BOC is the topic of the activity, which is a component of the Bureau’s Customs Social Responsibility (CSR) Program.

Additionally, it is the agency’s response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s mandate to all government agencies to incorporate tree planting into planned operations that enhance the nation’s capacity to withstand floods through environmental campaigns.
