The government will make sure that OFWs enjoy a warm “Filipino Christmas”
The government’s ability to give overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) additional high-quality jobs in the Philippines, according to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., is the “greatest Christmas gift” the government could give them.
The Filipino community in Belgium and other adjacent European nations gave Marcos a “warm” welcome despite the region’s chilly climate, he recalled in his weekly vlog, which aired on Sunday.
“Napakaginaw talaga, pero iba naman ang bumungad sa atin ay ang napaka init na salubong na binigay ng Filipino society. Sila naman ay sanay na yata sa lamig kaya’t parang wala silang nararamdaman na (It was really cold, but the Filipino community gave a very warm welcome. They don’t seem to be feeling the cold anymore, so I think they’re used to it,” he speculated.
Marcos claimed that he was made aware of how many OFWs were going to spend Christmas apart from their family while he and other members of the Philippine delegation saw several OFWs perform a Christmas song medley for them.
He claimed that as a result, he and his administration were motivated to strive even more to create greater employment possibilities at home.
He stated, “We are even more encouraged to strengthen our mission in these international summits, bilateral dialogues, and roundtable sessions. Lalo tayo nainspire na paigihin ang ating misyon.”
Because the best gift we can give to our OFWs is to further improve the state of our nation so that there are more opportunities for every Filipino, he continued, “the pinakamagandang regalo na maibibgay natin sa ating mga overseas Filipino workers is ang lalo pang pagandahin ang kalagayan ng ating bansa upang magkaroon ng mas maraming oportunidad para sa
The government’s endeavor to provide OFWs a “Filipino Christmas” and to keep an eye on them was urged by Marcos and other Filipino leaders.
“Now that the holiday season is approaching, let’s do everything to make our OFWs feel the warmth of the Filipino Christmas wherever they are in the world,” he said. “Ngayong nalalapit na ang kapaskuhan, gawin natin ang lahat upang iparamdam sa ating mga OFW ang init ng paskong Pilipino nasaang dako nang mun

Following his participation in the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summits in Brussels, Belgium, Marcos stated that the Philippines has received investment promises of PHP9.8 billion from European business leaders, which is anticipated to lead to the creation of more jobs.

Additionally, he pledged that the government would continue its efforts to solve the flaws in the system of education, training, and certification for seafarers in the Philippines that the European Union (EU) had pointed out by setting up an advisory group.
“I have no doubt that our seafarers are of the highest caliber, but our system of running this industry must also be of the highest caliber so that the number one preference for seafarers will still be Filipino,” he said.
“We would do all possible to assure that possibilities for our employees will rise even more,” he continued. “Kaya’t gagawin natin ang lahat upang masigurong lalo pang dadami ang mga pagkakataon sa ating mga manggagawa.”
According to a United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) 2021 assessment, the Philippines continues to be the leading supplier of seafarers for both officers and ratings, across all departments, aboard merchant cargo vessels.
Filipino sailors contributed significantly to the nation’s economy in 2021, sending home a total of USD6.54 billion, up from USD6.353 billion in 2020, or by 3%.
