On Wednesday, 300 fishermen from this city and the towns of Hagonoy, Calumpit, Paombong, San Rafael, and Obando received 233-gill nets and 65 marine motors. The distribution was overseen by Governor Daniel R. Fernando.

According to Fernando, the action is intended to provide small-scale fishermen in the province with sustainable livelihoods.

In an interview on Thursday, he said, “It is a part of our ongoing efforts to help better the lives of our marginal fishers.”

The importance of agriculture to the expansion and development of the province was emphasized by the governor.

“Ang agrikultura mahalaga. There should be more security in the area. In terms of kabila ng pag-unlad, kailangan na ipagpatuloy natin ang pangangalaga at pagsusulong ng ating agrikultura. Food security is crucial. Despite the progress, we must always safeguard and advance agriculture, the man remarked.

Fernando also urged the fishermen to constantly be ready for and on the lookout for natural calamities because they will have an impact on their way of life.

The governor also gave each fisherman PHP1,000 in cash to help their family in addition to the fishing equipment.
