A planning workshop and practical training in feed formulation were provided by their organization to 15 provincial agriculture staff members of Aurora on Monday, according to Wilfredo Cruz, regional director of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Central Luzon (BFAR-3), to improve their knowledge of the production of fish food.

According to a statement from Cruz, the training seeks to equip the local government with the technical know-how necessary to create a feed composition that is both affordable and readily available in the area.

In February 2022, joint plans for the construction of the feed mill plant in Aurora were made public. These plans were made possible with support from the BFAR and the National Fisheries Research Development Institute.

The construction began in March of that year and is currently around 80% finished.

The next stage of building, according to the BFAR spokesman, will involve increasing the milling, mixing, and storage space.

Cruz agreed that local, easily accessible materials like “kangkong,” (water spinach), “malunggay,” (moringa), rice husk, and copra would be used in the feed mill in order to reduce production costs in an earlier meeting with DA Undersecretary for Agri-Industrialization and Fisheries Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero and Aurora local officials.

He said that the feed mill will help to allay the fishermen’s worries regarding the high cost of commercial fish feed.
