The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported on Tuesday that over 2 million passengers are anticipated in all 42 commercial airports it operates this April due to the predicted travel boom during Holy Week.

In a press conference, CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio stated that the organization’s 42 commercial airports and employees will be prepared to serve travelers during the Christmas rush.

In April 2022, he claimed, 1,715,720 travelers used CAAP airports. As travel restrictions continue to loosen, the number is predicted to surpass 2 million this year and rise by 7 to 10% annually.

According to Apolonio, manpower has been increased, and coordination with airlines has been done to request that they send out more staff to the check-in desks.

Airports serving the CAAP will have Malasakit Help Desks to address the needs and questions of travelers.

The airports that CAAP manages will reportedly be on high alert from April 2 to April 10.

In order to increase its staff, regular cooperation is held with the Office for Transportation Security and the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group.

Apolonio advised people to check in for their flights at least two to three hours before departure to prevent delays.
