The Marcos administration has promised to open more Kadiwa locations to serve even remote villages around the nation.

As he introduced the program in Bataan on Friday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave the Department of Commerce and Industry and the Department of the Interior and Local Government instructions to expand the reach of the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo.”

At his speech in Limay, Bataan, he added, “We will put up more of Kadiwa even in remote areas because every single one of us here in the Philippines needs assistance. “Pararamihin natin ito para kahit sa malalayo, sa mga lupalop ay makakaabot ang Kadiwa.”

In addition to expanding the number of Kadiwa stores, Marcos said the government must work to increase agricultural productivity and lessen its dependency on imports in order to stabilize the cost of essential items.

The Kadiwa program has been successful in assisting Filipinos since it was introduced last year, especially common customers and those working in the farm industry.

According to official data, the regular programs of both Kadiwa and Kadiwa ng Pasko generated more than PHP400 million in 2022.

Under the project, farmers, fishermen, and small enterprises produced more than PHP3 million in just two months.

Additionally, Marcos opened Kadiwa stores in Cebu, Manila, Batangas, and Camarines Sur, allowing additional Filipino vendors and customers to take advantage of the program’s advantages.

This is a part of the Kadiwa outlets’ ongoing statewide expansion as a platform for Filipino farmers, fisherfolk, and micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) to increase income through direct farm-to-consumer trade.

Earlier, Marcos stated that the government’s focus is on helping MSMEs recover from the Covid-19 pandemic’s effects.

Amid the nation’s soaring inflation, he also pointed out that the program intended to give customers access to affordable basic items.
