The achievement of the Mindanao peace process was credited to local and international stakeholders on Monday by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU).

The statement read, “The stakeholders, as well as the international community, have vibrant support for the success of the Mindanao peace process.”

After Huang Xilian, the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines linked the situation between China and Taiwan to that of Mindanao, OPAPRU revealed this.

The body noted that Huang Xilian, the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines, has compared the peace process in Mindanao to internal conflict in China over Taiwan.

According to OPAPRU, a third-party nation has been facilitating the Bangsamoro peace process ever since in order to ensure justice and preserve the integrity of the peace negotiations.

“Now that the Southern Peace Process is in its implementation phase, the role of the international community is very crucial to help deliver the peace dividends,” it was noted.

OPAPRU further pointed out that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had previously highlighted the Bangsamoro peace process’ successful outcomes as an example for other nations dealing with internal problems.

It went on to say, “We encourage nations in similar circumstances to take the same course in peacefully resolving conflicts and not resort to unnecessary use of force, intimidation, and/or violence.”

OPAPRU also feels that, despite its challenges, the Bangsamoro peace process’s success can be reproduced.

“We believe that in order to address the Taiwan Strait Crisis, we need genuine and inclusive dialogue, respect, and good faith by all parties,” the statement said.
