The local administration is getting ready to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOA) with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to transfer an extra PHP200 million for the project to build a new Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA).

The additional PHP200 million, according to Dalipe on Monday, will be used to purchase land for ZIA and build a temporary perimeter fence around the project’s airport strip boundaries.

Dalipe said that his older brother, 2nd District Representative Manuel Jose Dalipe, had worked hard to secure the extra cash.

Earlier, the DOTr released PHP180 million from the initial airport project money to the municipal government via the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Approximately 1,650 residents of the Barangays Mercedes, Talabaan, and Zambowood, which are east of this city, are in danger of being relocated because they have been living in the proposed airport area.

According to Dalipe, this is the outcome of the Housing Land Management Division’s (HLMD) tagging and census validation (TCV) of the impacted individuals, families, and households that are currently residing in the planned airport region.

The Boalan Resettlement Action Plan is now being developed, according to HLMD Director Rodrigo Pagotaisidro, using the information they gathered during the real TCV.

According to Pagotaisidro, the 268,777 square meters Sta. Lucia Property in Barangay Boalan has been chosen as the new home for the families and schools that would be relocated as a result of the airport project.
