The recommendations for administering the second booster dose of the 2019 coronavirus illness vaccine (Covid-19) to the general public have been approved.

AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Pfizer are the vaccinations that should be administered as a second booster shot.

The Department of Health Officer in Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire stated during a media event on Tuesday, “We already signed the guidelines nitong isang araw lamang at eto po ay ipapakalat na sa ating mga (just the other day and we’ll disseminate this to our) local government units.”

All healthy adults, ages 18 and older, would receive the shots.

She remarked, “They may also be given to lactating and pregnant women who are at least 18 years old. Pwede rin pong ibigay sa mga buntis at saka.” Regardless of their priority group classification, “Maaari rin po ibigay sa (They may also be given to) immunocompromised populations 18 years of age and above.”

Vergeire urged the local government units to include Covid-19 immunization in their regular health programs and services in the primary healthcare institutions in order to make sure that the booster doses are available to the community.

She said, “So that we no longer need to rent” mass immunization venues, “para hindi na po natin kailangan mag-upa ng mga.”

As of March 20, a total of 78,443,972 people, or 100.44 percent of the target population for the nation (78,100,578), have received the Covid-19 vaccination. This number includes 5.6 million children, 10.2 million adolescents, and 8.7 million senior persons.

Out of the people who were fully immunized, 23,811,248 or 30.49 percent have gotten booster doses.
