During Lent, 54K tourists visit Catanduanes.

During the early part of this month’s Holy Week celebrations, about 54,000 domestic and international tourists visited the island province of Catanduanes.

In an interview on Monday, Carmel Garcia, director of the Catanduanes Tourism Office, claimed that the island province had become one of the most popular travel destinations in the Bicol region with 48,466 same-day visits and 4,893 overnight guests from both domestic and foreign countries.

As evidenced by the combined data from the 11 municipal tourism offices, lodging facilities, and tourist attractions in Catanduanes, she added, “We are grateful for the significant influx of tourist arrivals during the Lenten season and the long weekend here in Catanduanes.”

She pointed out that Catanduanes’ Catholic traditions are at the heart of its rich cultural legacy.

The miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows in Barangay Batong Paloway in San Andres, for example, and other religious events like Visita Iglesia (church visit) in the historic St. John the Baptist Parish in Bato town were among the holy days celebrated by the province during Holy Week.

As a result, she stated, “Catanduanes is a place unlike any other, where the fusion of faith and nature during the season offers travelers a rare and treasured opportunity for a significant and spiritually enlightening experience.

According to Garcia, tourists are attracted mostly by different sights and offerings.

As Twin Rock Beach Resort and beaches around Mamangal’s coastline, including Sunset Coast, Mamangal Beach, and Oliver’s Riff Mamangal Beach Resort, drew tourists from within the Philippines and abroad, Virac’s pristine beaches continue to be among the most popular tourist attractions. Visitors were drawn to Yahay Farm and Fleur de Lilies Glamping Farm by their tranquil settings for recreation, she added.

Beaches and spring pools have become well-liked vacation spots in San Andres town; famous attractions include Amenia Beach, Toledo’s Hide Away, and Emmalyn’s Paradise Resort.

Water-related attractions also attracted visitors in Caramoran, with Toytoy Beach and Awinis Falls as the leading destinations.

While the majestic Nahulugan Falls stood out as a noteworthy tourist attraction in Gigmoto, the stunning scenery and beaches have been the main draws in Pandan.

Puraran Beach, the first tourist destination in Catanduanes, as well as Lampitaw Beach, East Coast Beach Resort, and the majestic Binurong Point, were among the alluring beaches and breathtaking mountains that lured visitors to Baras.

Water-based tourist destinations in Bato include Sacahon Beach, Maribina Falls, and the recently renovated Carorian Wonders have been popular alternatives for travelers.

San Miguel River Park has become a premier location for river-based sports including kayaking and water tubing.

Enerking Garden Resort in Panganiban has been a popular choice for travelers looking to soak up the sun and cool spring water.

Tourists who wish to see the early morning vistas and sea of clouds continue to flock to Viga’s summit view park, which looks over the city.

With its distinctive black sand beaches, Bagamanoc town became a tourist destination.

According to Garcia, the Provincial Tourism Office collaborates closely with neighborhood groups and other stakeholders to ensure a welcoming environment for all guests.

In order to make sure visitors are given the essential information and direction during their stay in and visit to Catanduanes, the Catanduanes Provincial Tourism Office and other municipal tourism offices such as San Andres, Pandan, and Baras built tourist assistance desks.

Governor Joseph Cua claimed in a statement that Catanduanes’ tourism sector has shown incredible fortitude and is moving forward significantly.

“Catanduanes has once again demonstrated that it is a worthwhile location for tourists to visit during Holy Week and the long weekend. We are happy to see Catanduanes becoming a more well-known travel destination, and we are dedicated to promoting and maintaining the beauty of our island paradise, added Cua.
