15% of applicants to the Bicol job fair are expected to be hired immediately.
About 300 job seekers, or at least 15% of the 2,000 applicants who preregistered, are expected to be hired on the spot at the Labor Day job fair held at the Ayala Malls in this city on Monday, according to the Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5).
In an interview with local media, Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita, Regional Director of DOLE-5, stated that the assumption was based on the applicants’ preregistration documentation, which noted their strong academic standing and high level of performance.
“Nakita namin na sila ay marurunong, at maganda ang kanilang mga credentials. I’m hoping that this time, you’ll be working hard at your job. Tinitingnan din naman, hindi namin sila kakalimutan, at pang-profile namin sila, mahanapan pa sila ng angkop na trabaho para sa kanila. Labor Day will not be the end of this. We have observed that they are intelligent and have solid credentials. Patuloy namin imo-monitor ang paghahanap nila ng trabaho. I’m hoping this time they’ll land a job. Once we have profiled them, we will find them a suitable job. We will also look into it, we won’t forget about them. Labor Day will not be the end of this. We shall keep an eye on their employment quest),” added Campita.
She mentioned that there are approximately 14,000 openings at the job fair.
Campita added that the “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” event assists those looking for better prospects and those looking for jobs.
According to her, the DOLE and Technical Education Skills Development Authority in Bicol (TESDA-5) would provide livelihood assistance of PHP95 million to about 20,617 individuals as part of the event.
Under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), nine beneficiaries will receive livelihood kits for nail care, dressmaking, beauty care, hair and makeup, street food vending, and cooked food vending.
Additionally 20, 496 beneficiaries will receive wages for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).
