Labor Day job fairs hired 4.7K applicants right away: DOLE

In total, 4,728 job seekers were employed right away (HOTS) on Monday during the concurrent Labor Day job fairs.

According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), which released its initial Labor Day Job Fair Report on Tuesday, the total comprises 2,525 female applicants and 2,203 male applicants.

From a total of 30,837 applicants, 16,206 women and 14,631 men registered for the events.

The percentage of HOTS in the overall number of registrants is 15.33%.

The top positions filled, according to the survey, were service staff (248), cashiers (139), call center representatives (77), baggers (57), and merchandisers (57).

While 619 job seekers received opportunities for livelihood assistance through the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, 1,603 job seekers received training opportunities from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) also disclosed that 447 people were directed to the Department of Trade and Industry’s entrepreneurial opportunities.

4,233 job seekers in total have used one-stop shop services from various government departments.

Jobs fairs are scheduled to take place in four locations over the next few days: on Tuesday at the NCCC Mall in Tagum City, Davao del Norte; on Wednesday at the People’s Center in Balanga City, Bataan; on Thursday at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos City, Bulacan; and on Friday at the third level of the Alabang Public Market.
