BCDA promised to generate income for AFP modernization.

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is dedicated to bolstering the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) by building communities that may generate income to aid the military in its continuing modernization effort.

Aileen Zosa, president and chief executive officer of the BCDA, stated in a statement provided to reporters on Monday that the BCDA is all about assisting in strengthening the Armed Forces while creating fantastic neighborhoods like Bonifacio Global City.

She continued by saying that by earning recurrent income from these initiatives, BCDA will be more mindful of funding the AFP’s modernization and speeding up the construction of crucial military structures.

Over 90 public relations and information officers from the DND and AFP attended the 26th AFP Forum, organized by the organization and presided over by Defense spokesperson Arsenio Andolong. Zosa made this commitment during the event.

Updates on BCDA’s ongoing efforts to support the modernization of the AFP and its replication projects for the military were discussed during the meeting.

Delfin Lorenzana, chair of the BCDA, emphasized in his message the need for government communicators as “bearers of truthful and accurate information,” particularly in the defense and security sectors.

“We highlight the crucial role of public information officers in communicating to our stakeholders our commitment to helping build a peaceful, secure, and livable community through the support of strong and reliable armed forces,” said Lorenzana.

As evidence of its effectiveness, the BCDA sent the AFP PHP7.206 billion in total in 2022, an increase of PHP4.562 billion above the PHP2.644 billion it sent in 2021.

42 percent, or PHP56.40 billion, of BCDA’s gross disposition earnings from 1993 to 2022 are given to the AFP for its modernization program, bolstering the military’s ability to respond to emergencies and protect the nation from all threats.

The BCDA offers assistance by updating military buildings as part of its replication program in addition to donations to the AFP Modernization Program.

To assist in relocating the unit’s headquarters from Camp Servillano Aquino in Tarlac, the BCDA provided the Army Support Command of the Philippine Army with contemporary facilities in 2022.
