Solon reiterates the request for intensified fire prevention campaign.

On May 12, as his office helped those affected by a fire in Taytay, Rizal, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go reiterated his plea for a more effective fire prevention effort.

Go said in a fresh statement on Tuesday that Republic Act 11589, also known as the BFP Modernization Act, which he wrote and co-sponsored in the Senate, is a 10-year program for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The BFP Modernization Act calls for “karagdagang kagamitan (more equipment), firefighters, and monthly education campaigns to turuan ang ating mga kababayan na mag-ingat. The BFP Modernization Act includes provisions to teach our people about fire prevention. Bawat bahay na nasusunog, nadadamay ang kapitbahay, so dapat doble ingat tayo. We must exercise greater caution because a fire can also affect a neighbor, Go remarked.

Go’s team sent 205 fire-affected households grocery bags, masks, vitamins, and shirts. Additionally, they distributed shoes, bags, basketballs, volleyballs, cell phones, and other items to chosen recipients.

He addressed the victims of the fire, “A lost life is a lost life forever, therefore let’s always be vigilant.

To help the recipients meet their needs as they recuperate from the harm caused by the fire incident, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also provided financial support.

The Malasakit Centers are located at Bagong Cainta Municipal Hospital, Margarito A. Duavit Memorial Hospital in Binangonan, Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Memorial Hospital in Rodriguez, and Antipolo City Hospital System Annex IV, according to Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography.

Indigent patients can more easily receive medical aid programs from the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, thanks to Malasakit Centers, which are one-stop shops.

Go wrote the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, it resulted in the opening of 157 Malasakit Centers across the country.

As the vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee, he declared that he would also support the development of a sports complex, the purchase of an ambulance, and the creation of a drainage system in Taytay.
