MANILA, Philippines — Following its eruption on Sunday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines…

‘Successful’ according to CAAP for the upkeep of the radar system
The corrective repair of the nation’s radar system was “successful” on Wednesday, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) stated, with no flight disruptions during the activity scheduled from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m.
According to CAAP, the corrective maintenance at the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC), which aims to modernize the air traffic management system (ATMS) and replace the uninterruptible power supply, was completed in an hour and 13 minutes.
The scheduled maintenance at Clark International Airport earlier affected four regional flights. AirAsia Philippines announced the cancellation of six domestic flights and the rescheduling of two flights scheduled for May 17. No interruptions were recorded. However, it should be noted that those announcements were made before the disruptions.
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (NAIA) aircraft operations were unaffected by the activity, and regular business as usual resumed at about 3:20 a.m.
Runway 13/31 in Manila was used during the maintenance procedure, which permits additional contact channels between pilots and the Control Tower.
During the system maintenance, the airline claimed that all of Philippine Airlines’ regularly scheduled flights via Manila were able to land and take off.
The Communications Navigation Surveillance Systems and the Air Navigation Service are being continuously monitored and adjusted, according to CAAP, to ensure that airports around the nation can operate without interruption.
“CAAP extends its appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of various aviation stakeholders, highlighting the importance of seamless air traffic management in compliance to the highest standards of safety and efficiency,” the organization said.
