Before the May elections, 44 Pangasinan election officials were reshuffled.

In Pangasinan, 44 of the 48 election officers have been relocated to other districts in preparation for the country’s national and municipal elections.

The relocation, according to Nathaniel Siaden, a lawyer for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Urdaneta City, prohibits or avoids the officers’ acquaintance with the incumbent officials.

He added in a virtual discussion hosted by the Philippine Information Agency Pangasinan on Thursday that he wanted to clear up any doubts about possible close ties between officers and authorities.

The election officers in Dagupan City, Villasis, Rosales, and Manaoag towns were not reshuffled, according to Siaden, because they had only recently taken their positions.

Meanwhile, all election officers have already coordinated the makeup of electoral boards in each precinct with the school district supervisors or superintendents.

“Electoral boards, support staff, supervisory officers for support staff, and medical health personnel with the support staff at polling centers are among those who have already finished their workforce,” Siaden said.

The Department of Health, the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government organized campaign committees.

The candidates’ campaign actions will be approved or disapproved by the committees.

Candidates and attendees at the caucuses are required to wear face masks and face shields, according to him.

These, according to Siaden, are part of the revised regulations that will be adopted for the national and municipal elections in May, notwithstanding the coronavirus epidemic (Covid-19).

“Medical personnel will also be present at the voting centers on election day to check the voters’ temperatures and possible ailments.” “There will be specific isolation zones for people who develop symptoms,” he added.

With nearly 2 million registered voters, Pangasinan has 3,339 polling precincts.
