In Ilocos Region, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has prepared 35,347 family food packs for Typhoon Mawar, predicted to land in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this weekend.

According to a statement made by the DSWD on Thursday, 1,500 food packs have been delivered to warehouses in the municipality of Anda and 1,000 in Bautista town, both in Pangasinan province, as well as 2,000 in the regional warehouse in San Fernando City, La Union, with the remaining food packs being on standby in other satellite centers.

“Ang family meal kits po are not directly or indirectly being given to or inadvertently affecting the impacted people. (The family food kits are not immediately distributed to the victims.) Ang unang gagamitin ng ating mga local government units (LGUs) ay ang kanilang Quick Response Fund. In a statement on Thursday, DSWD information officer Anne Hazel Fajardo-Flores stated that the LGUs would initially spend their quick reaction money.

She continued that if the LGUs’ funds are insufficient to cover the number of recipients, they may ask the DSWD for assistance.

29,868 non-food items and 5,007 bottles of water are also prepared.

Rex Gatchalian, the secretary of DSWD, has assured the public that the organization has enough prepositioned relief supplies in areas that will probably be affected by the approaching typhoon.

The DSWD Central Office has prepositioned 689,885 family food kits across the country as of right now.

The supply of 98,000 FFPs by DSWD has also begun in Regions I (Ilocos Region), II (Cagayan Valley), III (Central Luzon), the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the Visayas Region.

According to Gatchalian, special attention was paid to the eastern seaboards of Region I, Region II, and Region III to ensure their capabilities doubled.
