Taiwan is stepping up marketing and promotions to recover pre-pandemic arrival numbers to draw 320,000 visitors from the Philippines.

Filipino tourists reached roughly 510,000 in 2019, according to data released on Saturday by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines.

“The number of Filipino visitors to Taiwan has grown rapidly since Taiwan’s border opened to tourists on October 13 of last year, which shows the high enthusiasm of Filipino tourists for Taiwan,” it said in a statement.

Over the weekend, a promotion conference was organized in Manila by the Taiwan Amusement Park Association and the Kuala Lumpur office of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau to encourage Filipinos to visit the island’s many amusement parks.

In contrast, over a hundred Philippine travel agencies, including the Philippine Travel Agencies Association, participated from Manila. Eleven amusement parks, six travel companies, and three airline representatives came from Taiwan.

The chair of the Taiwan Amusement Park Association, Chun-Jun Liao, noted that Taiwan has a variety of theme parks, some of which even feature Taiwan’s native culture, hot springs, and flower gazing, among other things.

In addition to promoting Taiwan’s night market specialties, cityscape, and other well-liked tourism goods, the bureau is promoting theme parks.

Filipino visitors continue to be able to visit Taiwan without a visa.

Leofoo Village Theme Park, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, Janfusan Fancy World, Little Ding-Dong Science Theme Park, Yehliu Ocean World, Farglory Ocean Park, West Lake Resortopia, Atayal Resort, Sun-Link-Sea Forest & Nature Resort, Shangshun World, E-DA Theme Park, and others are among the parks the bureau promoted.
