The executive expects the automobile sector to meet its 295K sales goal this year
The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) is still optimistic about meeting the industry’s sales goal this year, despite a promising month-on-month increase in September.
According to a joint study released on Monday by CAMPI and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), vehicle sales increased 35.6 percent in September to 21,493 units, up from 15,847 units in August of this year.
According to CAMPI president Rommel Gutierrez, the positive performance last month would help the sector meet its sales goal for this year.
“Despite the difficulties, the industry is optimistic about a stronger fourth-quarter sales performance this year.” According to recent government statistics, this is driven by generally increased consumer confidence as a consequence of a more robust economic situation and household expenditure,” he said.
Gutierrez previously said that the industry expects to finish the year with 295,400 unit sales. Imported car sales are included in the goal.
Sales of domestic vehicle assemblers hit 191,605 units in the first nine months of the year, up 29.5 percent from 148,012 units in the same time the previous year.
Passenger vehicle sales increased 38.3 percent from January to September this year to 60,982 units, up from 44,079 units in 2020.
Sales of commercial vehicles increased by 25.7 percent to 130,623 units, up from 103,933 units.
Toyota, Mitsubishi, Ford, Suzuki, and Nissan led the industry in the first three quarters of the year.
