The national immunization push will take place from November 29 to December 1.
President Rodrigo Duterte said in his “Talk to the People” on Tuesday that the government will run a three-day countrywide Covid-19 vaccination push from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
The big vaccination effort takes place on the same day as the national hero Andres Bonifacio’s life is commemorated on Nov. 30.
“We want to send the message that every Filipino who gets vaccinated is a hero,” added Duterte.
Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., the head of the National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19, previously stated that the three-day vaccination effort aims to improve the country’s average daily immunization rate to at least 1 million doses in order to achieve population protection.
The inoculation will be held “by mobilizing the NGOs (non-governmental organizations), government agencies, private sector, and volunteers,” according to Galvez. The government, in collaboration with the Philippine Medical Association and its allied medical groups within the Rotary Club, will hold the inoculation.
He went on to say that the plan intends to speed up and expand the country’s immunization program by converting some schools into vaccination stations for the event, which he compared to holding elections.
