Following the permission of the Office of the President, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Friday that the number of participating schools in the pilot implementation of face-to-face (F2F) classes will be increased.

According to a statement released by the Department of Education, additional schools are qualified to be included in the pilot list based on an assessment completed in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH).

“According to DOH’s most recent transmittal, 484 of the 638 granular risk assessments were deemed negligible or low-risk. We’ve also had multiple requests from local governments, including the NCR, to have their schools included in the trial program,” it said.

Additional schools will be reviewed depending on preparation and the DOH’s assessment of their Covid-risk level, according to the DepEd.

“Once the additional pilot schools have been validated, we will publicize them.” The increased number of pilot schools will allow all of our regions to gain more experience, which will help us prepare for the expanded phase of face-to-face lessons,” it stated.

On November 15, the 100 public schools designated by DepEd on Wednesday will begin their pilot face-to-face lessons.

Meantime, the 20 private schools which the DepEd allowed will hold their classes on November 22.

The DepEd is yet to release the list of the 20 private schools.

“With operational guidelines and our shared responsibility framework in place, we assure everyone that this pilot program will remain consistent with relevant public health standards, rules, and regulations,” the DepEd said.
